Zoo Overnight: Buzz ‘n’ Snooze

Family Overnights are back with brand new adventures! Spend the night at the Zoo.

Back for its second year running, join us for a wild night at the Zoo and get the buzz on the fascinating world of pollinators! Many animals – such as lemurs, bats, ladybugs, and bees – help plants complete their life cycle by moving pollen from one plant to another. This is a very important process if you like chocolate, fruits, or ice cream!

Celebrate these miracle workers and discover how you can help provide important habitats for many species right in your own backyard!

Evening snack, a light breakfast, and next-day admission are included. We will be camping indoors in our Brown Education Center!

Pollinator Palooza

Pollinators help plants complete their life cycle by moving pollen from one plant to another. This is a very important process if you like any of the following things – chocolate, fruits, ice cream, and even tequila!

Celebrate these miracle workers during Pollinator Palooza. Learn about the different types of pollinators, check out our pollination stations, and learn how you can save pollinators in the wild!

Evening Chill: Mud Mania!

Zoo open until 8:30 p.m., last Zoo entry 7:30 p.m., stay late and watch the movie!

Celebrate International Mud Day with the Houston Zoo. What a great excuse to get mucky in mud and Explore the Wild! Cook up mud pies or build your dream mud castle and learn how animals use mud to keep cool in the heat. Bring a change of clothes and stay late for our showing of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids on a giant outdoor screen at 8:45 p.m. on Friday and The Goonies on Saturday.

Please note at 8:30 p.m. all guests will be required to either enter Masihara Pavilion to watch the movie at 8:45 p.m. or leave the Zoo. Roaming the Zoo during the movie is not permitted. All guests will be escorted to the exit gates at the end of the film.

Blankets are welcomed but will not be provided. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Herzstein Trading Post until 10 p.m.

World Tiger Day – Spotlight on Species

In honor of World Tiger Day, join us for a Tiger Spotlight on Species event! See our resident Malayan tigers celebrate
with some special enrichment items in their habitat. Attend talks and learn all about tigers as well as palm oil, a key ingredient affecting Malayan tigers in the wild due to its effect on deforestation.

Stop by the Tiger Boardwalk for educational games and crafts, learn more about these amazing endangered species and see what you can do to help!

Free Tuesday Afternoons provide free admission to the Houston Zoo on the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, from noon until closing.
