Do you want to work at one of the wildest places in Houston? Service Systems Associate (SSA) at the Houston Zoo is hiring 150 customer service enthusiasts to fulfill seasonal positions. Recruiters are looking for friendly and outgoing individuals with experience as: line cooks, prep cooks, food service associates, cashiers, customer service associates, retail associates, catering banquet servers & bartenders, team leaders and supervisors.

At this job fair, you can apply for positions onsite, and you might get an interview with SSA recruiters! Arrive interview-ready with a valid photo ID. Be prepared to fill out an application, interview, complete an online background screening and drug screening that day.

Wages range from $8 to $17 per hour, depending on experience and position.

Unpaid internships are offered in animal care and non-animal areas, veterinary conservation research, and through the Collegiate Conservation Program. Interns in the Collegiate Conservation Program will receive a small stipend for living expenses at the conclusion of the experience.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to get to learn more about the Houston Zoo, gain new experiences, and give back to the community. Volunteers may assist with activities in nearly every department, with events, and in education throughout the Zoo. In doing so, our Volunteer team helps save animals in the wild!


Opportunities for Teenagers

Zoo Crew Explorers is a five-week summer program for teens aged 13-17 to learn about various Zoo career possibilities and how each of our staff members are active in saving wildlife.
