Getting to the Zoo

The Houston Zoo is located in Hermann Park adjacent to the Texas Medical Center and the Museum District. There are two entrances to the zoo:

Our Main Entrance and parking lot is located at:

6200 Hermann Park Drive
Houston, Texas 77030

Our Medical Center Entrance, located on Cambridge Street across from Ben Taub Hospital, provides convenient dropoff, pickup and pedestrian access (There is no parking at this gate). This gate is open only on weekends and major holidays.

Visiting Memorial Day Weekend?

Memorial Day Weekend is the second most visited time of the year for the Hermann Park area (that includes the Zoo!). Please “bear” with us by being prepared for heavy traffic conditions, and expect possible parking delays. Use the exit ramps at Highway 288 & MacGregor Way to help avoid road closures in the area, and as always, paid parking is available at Memorial Hermann Medical Center Garage. Or, you can ride MetroRail and skip the traffic completely!

Make sure to check traffic maps before leaving for the Zoo. It’s a jungle out there.

Metro

Catch METRORail at the Fannin South Park & Ride lot (1604 West Bellfort between Knight and Fannin), or park in a Downtown parking lot, and head to the METRORail station.

Exit Hermann Park/Rice U Station (at Fannin and Sunset) or Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo Station (on Fannin between Cambridge and Ross Sterling).
