Perform with Your Choir at Zoo Lights

Houston Zoo invites school and community choirs to perform during Zoo Lights.

Join us for Zoo Lights

Houston Zoo is bringing back a favorite holiday tradition with a new opportunity for school and community choirs to perform during this year’s celebration of Zoo Lights!

Performance Dates & Times

Date: November 20, 2026 – January 3, 2027

Each choir will perform two 30-minute sets:

  • 6:30 p.m.
  • 7:30 p.m.

Stage size: 14 ft. x 25 ft.

Performances are available for choirs with up to 40 members.

Ticket pricing

  • Weekday tickets: $20 per person
  • Weekend tickets: $25 per person
  • Minimum purchase: 20 tickets per group, including performers and spectators

After your performance request is confirmed, your group will receive a ticket link to purchase admission. Performers and spectators are welcome to enjoy Zoo Lights before and/or after their scheduled performances.

Choir Requirements

  • Houston Zoo will provide access to a sound system that can be connected through an AUX cord.
  • Groups are responsible for bringing any additional equipment needed for their performance, including:
    • Music stands
    • Microphones
    • Other performance equipment
  • Houston Zoo does not provide performance equipment.
  • No instruments are permitted during performances for the safety and well-being of the Zoo’s animals.
  • Houston Zoo does not provide or assume responsibility for any performance equipment.
  • All participating choir members and guests will be required to complete signed waivers prior to performing.

Check-In & Arrival

  • Everyone in your group will enter through the main entrance using their Zoo Lights tickets.
  • A Houston Zoo staff member will meet your group at the Children’s Zoo Stage at 6:15 p.m.
  • Bus parking: Buses may park along Hermann Park Drive near the Gate 7 sign.

Payment

  • Payment is due one week before your scheduled performance date.

Who can perform at Zoo Lights?

School choirs, community groups, and professional ensembles are invited to submit a request to perform at Houston Zoo Lights.

How are performance requests reviewed?

To help us learn more about your group, please provide a link to your organization’s website or a previous performance video when submitting your request. Performance opportunities are reviewed based on group suitability, availability, and overall Zoo Lights experience.

Does my performance ticket include Zoo Lights admission?

Yes. Your Zoo Lights ticket includes admission for the evening of your scheduled performance. Performers are welcome to enjoy Zoo Lights before or after their scheduled performance time.

Do non-performers in our group need a ticket?

Yes. Everyone entering the Zoo, including group coordinators, chaperones, spectators, and technical support team members, must have a Zoo Lights ticket.

How soon will we know if our group is confirmed?

After submitting your performance request, a Houston Zoo team member will review your information and respond within 48 business hours with next steps and availability.

When is payment due?

Payment is due one week before your scheduled performance date.

What are the check-in instructions for performers?

Where can buses park?

Buses may park along Hermann Park Drive near the Gate 7 sign.

Where can cars and vans park?

Non-bus vehicles, including vans and cars, may use available parking lots in Hermann Park. Please be aware that these lots can fill up quickly.  Read more about our parking guide.

What items are not allowed at Houston Zoo Lights?

For the safety and enjoyment of our animals, guests, and other visitors, the following items are not permitted:

Balloons, inflatables, radios or speakers, glass containers, alcohol, plastic straws, whistles, streamers, balls, frisbees, confetti, glitter, string-in-a-can or silly string, piñatas, electric toys, chalk, bicycles, scooters, or other toys on wheels. This excludes strollers, wagons, and rolling coolers.

Sparks and sparklers are also not permitted.

Can we bring instruments for our performance?

No. Instruments are not permitted during choir performances for the safety and well-being of the Zoo’s animals.

Does Houston Zoo provide performance equipment?
