Field Trip Alert
The Houston Zoo is proud to provide an educational field trip venue for many local schools each year. More information is available on our field trips page.
On most weekday mornings during the school year, arriving at 9 a.m. or after 11 a.m. will allow you to avoid school bus arrival. During this time, parking spaces may be temporarily reserved so that children and teachers may safely unload and assemble. Unoccupied parking spots are made available once field trips have unloaded. We do not book field trips on the first Monday of each month.
If you are accompanying your child on a field trip, we recommend carpooling. Bus and rail options are detailed on this page as well.
Overflow Parking and Shuttle
On Saturdays and Sundays, shuttles run to and from the South Extension Lot on Harvin:
Parking is $6 per car, and the shuttle ride is free. Shuttles run continuously starting at 10 a.m. They drop off and pick up across the street from our Medical Center entrance near Ben Taub Hospital.
Save $2 off an adult admission and $1 off a child’s admission when you present your Q Card, METRO bus, or METRORail ticket at the zoo admission booth.
Walk To the Zoo from Two METRORail Stops
From the train, exit at either the Hermann Park/Rice U Station or the Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo Station. Our Medical Center Entrance is open on weekends and major holidays.
