Cool Animal Fact
Crocodilians are extremely devoted mothers, fiercely defending their young. Babies have unique communication with their mothers, who will carefully watch over them while they learn to hunt and carry them in her mouth to protect them from predators.
How Houston Zoo is Helping to Save Them
African dwarf crocodiles are an AZA managed SSP program. They are native to DRC where we have gorilla partners, but I am unsure if their work helps dwarf crocs, so please check with Taylor on that.
