Houston Zoo Celebrates 713 Day Weekend with $7.13 Tickets
Tickets, a ballcap bundle and a wildlife-friendly electronics drive mark the city’s unofficial holiday
In honor of 713 Day, Houston Zoo is offering $7.13 admission tickets Saturday, July 11 through Monday, July 13. Tickets must be purchased online in advance at houstonzoo.org.
Guests can add the 713 Day Ballcap Bundle for $35, which includes a limited-edition 713 Day hat, one admission to TXU Energy presents Mythical Realms and one carousel ride. $7.13 admission ticket sold separately.
By visiting during 713 Day Weekend, guests can also help save wildlife by dropping off retired small electronics, such as cell phones, tablets, smartwatches and wireless headphones, at the collection box near the Zoo’s main entrance. Guests who take part will be entered to win an original painting created by the Zoo’s cougars, Shasta VII and Louie, or by an Attwater’s prairie chicken. Small electronics contain a mineral called Coltan, which is mined in ways that damage habitat for chimpanzees, gorillas and okapi in central Africa. Laptops, large appliances and alkaline batteries will not be accepted.
713 Day is Houston’s unofficial holiday marking the city’s original telephone area code, established in 1947. The Houston Zoo is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:00 p.m.
