Get your tickets before you arrive. When you purchase Zoo Lights tickets in advance, you’ll not only enjoy a $1 discount per ticket, but you’ll spend less time standing in line and more time enjoying all that Zoo Lights has to offer.
Don’t forget: When you print your online tickets, print the ticket that includes the bar code. This ticket will be emailed to you when you purchase your tickets.
Don’t rush. Zoo Lights opens at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Families with very young children may prefer an early arrival, but for many guests arrival after 7:30 or 8 p.m. allows plenty of time to leisurely enjoy the magic of Zoo Lights.
Where, oh where to park? Lots near the Zoo’s main entry will fill quickly, but on busy Fridays and Saturdays, there is an alternative to circling the parking lots near the Zoo looking for an open space. Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza garage is open to Zoo Lights guests for a fee ($7 per vehicle, does not include Zoo Lights admission). Free Zoo Lights round trip trolley service runs from this garage to the Zoo and back every 15 minutes from 6:15 to 10:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. (The trolley is free and runs on Friday and Saturday evenings.)
Where do I get in? During Zoo Lights, all entry (and exit) will be directed through the main Zoo entrance. The Medical Center gate will not be used during Zoo Lights.
For this special night-time spectacular, the Houston Zoo will be transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with brilliant displays of colorful lights and festive holiday music.
Sip hot chocolate as you stroll through the Zoo and take in all the awe-inspiring sights, including thousands of twinkling lights adorning the magnificent live oak trees, whimsical colorful projections over 15 feet tall, and life-size animated animal sculptures.
Stare in amazement at “Holly Berry,” the 1958 Cadillac that’s more than just your average vehicle. “Holly Berry” features vibrant lights that dance in time to joyful music. Plus, sing along to your favorite carols, and decorate delicious holiday cookies.
Bring your camera to capture all the special moments, and seize the opportunity to get this year’s family holiday photo too. TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones this year.
While you view the many light displays, you’ll be serenaded by strolling carolers and nightly performances by local school and church choirs. The Wildlife Carousel will be lit up and ready for you to ride and we’ll be showing the Polar Express 4-D Experience.
We’ll be lighting up the yards at elephants, tigers, lions, rhinos, giraffes, African wild dogs and ankole cattle. You’ll also be able to stroll indoors and visit the animals in Natural Encounters, Reptiles and the Aquarium.*
