Why Your Support Matters

The Houston Zoo Fund provides crucial, unrestricted dollars to support our animal care, education programs, and wildlife conservation efforts. As a non-profit organization, the Zoo depends on contributions from donors like you to help ensure continued success so that we may deliver the best possible Zoo to our region. Your support will make a significant impact for one of Houston’s naturally wild treasures.

Monthly Giving

Consider making an on-going monthly gift. Your credit card will be charged automatically, making it convenient for you to be a sustaining supporter of the Houston Zoo.

Here are some of the ways a small gift each month makes a big impact:

$10 could pay for an x-ray of a wild sea turtle being treated at the Zoo
$15 could provide 3 lbs. of shrimp for our Asian otters
$25 could send two underserved students to the Zoo on a field trip

Maximizing Your Support

Does your company have a matching gift program? Corporate matching gifts are a great way to maximize personal contributions to the Zoo and multiply the impact of your gift. By taking advantage of your company’s matching gift benefits, you may be able to double or even triple the amount of your contribution. The proceeds from the match will be designated for the same program as your original gift. Contact your Human Resources Department to learn if your employer has a matching gift program.

Completed matching gift forms (provided by your employer) can be sent to:

What Your Gift Will Fund

When you make a gift to the Houston Zoo Fund, know that your money will be used responsibly and in the area where it is most immediately needed, including:

Animal Care and Enrichment – The Houston Zoo is home to more than 6,000 animals representing over 800 different species from around the world. Our animals receive the best in veterinary care, nutritious meals and plenty of enriching activities. Keepers strive to stimulate our animals’ lives with added activities which help the collection remain vigorous and healthy through increased naturalistic behaviors.

Education – The Houston Zoo provides numerous education programs to individuals of all ages in an effort to communicate the importance of caring for all animals and to ignite a passion for learning and conservation.

Saving Animals – In addition to building appreciation for wildlife around the world, the Zoo participates in many regional and international conservation programs that are bringing animal species back from the brink of extinction. We reinforce conservation efforts through messages embedded in exhibit graphics, Keeper Talks, educational programs, and collaborative projects.

A First Class Cultural Institution for Houston – As one of the largest cities in the country, doesn’t Houston deserve a Zoo that is truly one-of-a-kind? Your gift will help keep our animal habitats modern and comfortable, and will enhance the Zoo experience for all who visit.
