TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights

Now in its seventh year, TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights transforms the Houston Zoo into a winter wonderland. The Zoo has been proud to partner with TXU Energy on this holiday event since its very first year – a partnership that continues to make Zoo Lights, now one of Houston’s best-loved holiday traditions, better and brighter each year. From babies’ first twinkling lights to marriage proposals, Zoo Lights has been part of wonderful holiday memories for many Houstonians. This year, we hope it will be part of your holiday, too!

This year, TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights opens one hour earlier, giving friends and family more time to stroll the twinkling path and discover colorful surprises around every corner – from model trains running through a miniature village to a 33-foot-tall tree adorned with custom-made Zoo decorations. Use the extra time to grab a hot chocolate at the newly-opened Cypress Circle Cafe, snap a photo with our illuminated postcards, and chat with Candy the Zebra!

And what’s even better than seeing all the twinkling lights? Knowing they are all energy-saving twinkling lights! The Houston Zoo saves wildlife by using 100% energy-saving LED lights – which use 85% less power than incandescent lights – during TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights. You can reduce your energy costs and help animals in the wild by switching to LEDs at home.

Did you know you can recycle your old holiday lights at the Zoo? Each year, tons of holiday lights end up in landfills, which spill over into animals’ natural homes. The Houston Zoo has recycled more than 12, 826 pounds of holiday lights to date. So when you visit Zoo Lights this year, be sure to bring your old lights to recycle and help the Zoo protect animals in the wild.

See you soon – we’re saving a s’more just for you!
