Keeper Chats

See animals up close during our Meet the Keeper Talks sponsored by CenterPoint Energy Foundation. 

  • 1:30 p.m. – Elephants 
  • 2:00 p.m. – Goat yard in John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo
  • 2:00 p.m. – Animal Ambassador CZ stage in John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo
  • 2:30 p.m. – Wildlife Workshop activities located in John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo
  • 3:00 p.m. – Private Sea Lion Chat at amphitheater located in Galápagos Islands (Monday-Friday only)

Meet our Zoo Crew

Our Zoo Crew teens will be stationed in different areas around the Zoo ready to engage with you during 1:00 – 3:15 p.m.! You’ll get to learn more about our animals and what you can do to help save them in the wild. See where they will be stationed below.

Zoo Crew Naturalist Stations

Learn about the risk marine debris poses to wildlife found in Galapagos and along the Texas coast and how you can take action to reduce threats to sea turtles and shorebirds.

Meet our black bears Belle and Claude’s story and reveal the importance black bears play in ecosystems across North America. Station located across from lion exhibit.

Find out more about bird migrating across the Houston region and learn about the challenges of migration and what Houstonians can do to create more bird-friendly spaces in our region. Station found adjacent to North American Aviary

Explore the impacts of mining in Gorilla habitats and learn how they can help save gorillas from right here in Houston. Located in African Forest.

Check out the wildlife of Madagascar as they channel their inner lemur and leap from branch to branch to escape predators.

Learn how all life is interconnected within the wetlands and the role each species plays in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Located in whooping crane exhibit.
