Houston Zoo Reopens Saturday with #713Day Ticket Offer For the Weekend

Your Houston Zoo will reopen to the public Saturday with limited operations following a five-day closure due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl. Just in time for 713 Day, the Zoo will offer special tickets for $7.13 on Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14, providing a welcoming space for families and communities to gather and take a break. The $7.13 ticket for adults, children, and seniors includes access to the Zoo and entrance to TXU Energy presents Dinosaurs.

713 Day is an unofficial holiday celebrating all things Houston, named for the city’s original area code. As a 102-year-old world-class zoological institution, the Houston Zoo represents Houston’s rich cultural tapestry and commitment to wildlife conservation and education.

“During the storm, a dedicated ride-out team stayed overnight to care for our animals, ensuring the safety of our grounds and security of all animal enclosures,” said Houston Zoo President and CEO Lee Ehmke. “Our animals received exceptional care throughout the Category 1 hurricane.”

While the Zoo sustained some damage, primarily to roofs and interior flooding in places like the Brown Education Center (BEC), the Zoo’s committed team worked tirelessly to make repairs. Numerous downed and compromised trees across the campus required extensive clearing, but thanks to the efforts of the staff, the Zoo is ready to welcome visitors once again. Some areas of the Zoo will remain closed while cleanup of downed trees continues.

“While facing these challenges is never easy, our response to this crisis has highlighted the strength and dedication of our Zoo community,” added Ehmke.

The Houston Zoo will resume normal operating hours beginning July 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last entrance at 4 p.m. seven days a week. Get tickets
