Mark McGrath is a true original. Best known as lead singer/ songwriter for Sugar Ray, the Southern California-native can lay claim to a stunning string of top 10 hits, including “Someday,” “When It’s Over,” and the twin #1 classics, “Fly” and “Every Morning.” McGrath and Sugar Ray proved worldwide fan favorites, with multiple multi-platinum albums (including the RIAA 3x platinum certified 14:59), countless sold out tours, innumerable TV appearances, and starring roles on the covers of such national publications as Spin and Rolling Stone. More than two decades since their foundation later, Sugar Ray remain devoted to the cause that united them, the pursuit of good times, sunshine, and great rock ‘n’ roll.
As if that weren’t enough, McGrath has enjoyed a high profile career as a multi-faceted TV personality, including his current role as host of truTV’s extreme singing competition series, Killer Karaoke. Among his many other credits are stints as co-host of the entertainment news program, Extra, and as host of the nationally syndicated Don’t Forget The Lyrics! A three-time champion on VH1’s Rock & Roll Jeopardy, McGrath has also appeared in such hugely successful series and films as Fox’s American Idol, NBC’s The Office and The Celebrity Apprentice (Season 4), ABC’s Wife Swap and The Neighbors, and most recently, Syfy’s Sharknado 2: The Second One

The 2013 Feast with the Beasts event featured 65 of Houston’s hottest restaurants, special animal presentations and feedings, and a live performance by Smash Mouth. Money raised helps support the care and feeding of the over 6,000 animals that call Houston Zoo home. Make sure you subscribe to the Houston Zoo e-mail newsletter for all Feast details.
Launched in the fall of 2006 as a fundraiser for the Houston Zoo, Feast with the Beasts was an instant hit! The Zoo’s naturally wild environment and 6,000 animals offer an unprecedented venue for this wine, beer and food event.
The 2006 event had 33 restaurant participants. The event has grown to feature more than 60 Houston-area restaurants, all serving their best dish, plus a live concert performance.
In 2008 we added the Beastly Battle – a chance for guests to vote for their favorite cuisine. In 2009 we added a Dessert Corner featuring sweet treats.
We’ve had sell-out crowds for the past four years, welcoming over 4,000 guests each year. Tickets sold out weeks in advance. With great restaurants like Taste of Texas, The Melting Pot and more, plus a rockin’ show, Feast with the Beasts is the place to be!
The Houston Zoo is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a fun, unique, and inspirational experience fostering appreciation, knowledge, and care for the natural world. Fundraising is essential to the Houston Zoo, and we could not continue our mission without support from the Houston community.
Feast with the Beasts is not only a much-talked about and well-loved annual event, but also one of the Houston Zoo’s largest fundraisers of the year. This event raised almost $1,000,000 in its first three years! All money raised goes to the Houston Zoo’s conservation, education, and animal care programs.
