Humboldt Penguins Temporarily Off Habitat
The Humboldt penguins in our Galápagos Islands habitat are currently behind the scenes while our teams take steps to ensure their continued health and safety.
Our animal care staff recently observed the penguins interacting with habitat materials in a way that raised concern. After consulting with our veterinary team, we decided to temporarily move the birds behind the scenes out of an abundance of caution.
This gives us time to assess the situation and make any needed adjustments. We know this may be disappointing for guests, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of the animals in our care.
While they’re off view, you can still see them up close through our Penguin Encounter — a behind-the-scenes experience that gives guests a chance to meet the penguins and learn how we care for them.
We’ll share updates as soon as we’re able to welcome the penguins back.
