A Celebration of Inclusion

Houston Zoo Welcomes Genuine Cup Athletes

In its commitment to being a “Zoo for All” the Houston Zoo invited all 38 teams and 900 athletes, coaches, and families participating in the 2025 Genuine Cup for special access packed with fun, learning, and connection for these inspiring guests. The Genuine Cup is an international soccer tournament for neurodiverse individuals with developmental differences.

Athletes enjoyed the popular “Jurassic Giants” exhibit, featuring life-size dinosaurs and interactive dig sites. Several Meet the Keeper Talks, sponsored by CenterPoint Energy Foundation, showcased elephants, goats and sea lions throughout the afternoon. Athletes also met ambassador animals and participated in engaging conservation conversations with the Zoo Crew teens.

The Zoo remains true to its mission of connecting communities with animals, inspiring action to save wildlife. By fostering a space where individuals of all abilities feel valued and supported, the Zoo continues to champion inclusion. This special visit highlights the power of connection between people, wildlife, and the shared goal of creating a more welcoming world for all.

Houston Zoo is a Certified Autism Center™ by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
