What’s the best way to celebrate Halloween? At the Houston Zoo! Houston’s largest family-friendly Halloween event is back and better than ever!

Want to attend Zoo Boo without the crowds? Join us for Zoo Boo on Friday mornings! Visit the Houston Zoo between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for your favorite Zoo Boo activities, including the Fiesta Mart Pumpkin Patch, the Monster Mural, and, of course, candy!

Please Note: Our Medical Center entrance (West Gate) is only open on Saturdays & Sundays, and will not be open for Friday Zoo Boo.

Special Zoo Boo Member Morning
Hey Zoo Members! You can enjoy an extra hour of Zoo Boo on Saturday, October 28. The Houston Zoo will open at 8 a.m. so Members can get an early start on your favorite Zoo Boo activities, including the Fiesta Mart Pumpkin Patch, the Monster Mural, and, course, candy!

There’s no separate ticket for Zoo Boo; all Zoo Boo activities are included with your paid Zoo admission.

Zoo Boo is FREE for Zoo Members! Membership pays for itself in as little as two visits, and members can visit the Zoo as often as they like throughout the year. Find out more:

We’re inviting all little ghouls and goblins to celebrate Halloween at the Houston Zoo with activities that are fun for the entire family. We encourage all kids to come dressed in their spookiest or prettiest Halloween costume, and don’t forget the trick-or-treat bags!

Little ghouls and goblins can pick a child-sized pumpkin to paint into a Halloween jack-o-lantern. (Pumpkins available while supplies last). Overflowing with pumpkins, this is also the perfect spot for photographs!

Zoe the Zookeeper’s Howlerween Adventure

Kids can follow the adventures of Zoe the Zookeeper as she helps wildlife officials rescue, rehabilitate and release howler monkeys back into the wild. Kids will learn what howler monkeys eat, what belongs in the Belizean jungle for a healthy habitat and more. Kids will earn a special howler monkey-themed Conservation Hero button for helping Zoe!

This activity includes a merchandise table with goodies for sale, such as pet rocks, animal paintings, face painting, magnets, and conservation bracelets. The table is open Saturdays and Sundays during Zoo Boo from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Rules for Zoo Boo

Zoo Boo is a family-friendly event, and all costumes must be appropriate for ghouls of all ages.

Adults are welcome to come in costume, but must leave their face clearly visible at all times; adults in heavy makeup or masks will not be allowed into the Zoo.

Restricted items include but are not limited to:

  • Toy weapons of any kind (swords, knives, galactic blasters, etc.)
  • Fireworks of any kind
  • Excessively gory or non-family friendly props or items
  • Inflatable objects

The Houston Zoo cannot hold any items for guests at the Guest Relations Office. Please leave all unsecured or restricted items in your personal vehicle or at home.
