Evening Chill: Birds

Thanks to TXU Energy, the Houston Zoo is staying open late, so you can enjoy the animals in the cooler evening weather.

Come out and enjoy this special Evening Chill event that highlights our bird habitats. The Houston Zoo is home to over 200 species and 800 individual birds. There are three main bird exhibits: Fischer Bird Garden, the Tropical Bird House, and Birds of the World.

Activities:
Guests can enjoy added family activities including foam Zoo animal mask craft kit, Jelly vs. Junk recycling activity, a children’s DJ, special coloring mural, on-site airbrush artist, giant lawn games, and more!

Hours: 5:00-8:00 p.m.
All activities are included in Zoo admission and are free for Zoo Members.

Animal Keeper Chats for Friday, July 19:

  • 6:00 p.m. – Flight Pen Bug Toss (Pheasant Run)
  • 6:30 p.m. – Whooping Cranes (Texas Wetlands)
  • 7:00 p.m. – Wattled Curassow (Bird Gardens)
  • 7:30 p.m. – St. Vincent Amazons

Animal Keeper Chats for Saturday, July 20:

  • 6:00 p.m. – Flight Pen Bug Toss (Pheasant Run)
  • 6:30 p.m. – Bald Eagle (Texas Wetlands)
  • 7:00 p.m. – Green Oropendola (Bird Gardens)
  • 7:30 p.m. – King Vulture
