Party Animals: A Roarin’ New Year Celebration

January 2-4

Around the world, animals are a part of many celebrations, songs and even dance moves. Party like it is 2019 as we meet animals integral to festive occasions throughout the world and have a celebration of Houston Zoo animals each day.

Each camp will be an individual, single-day experience with different opportunities.  You can send a camper for just one day or the entire week!

Ages 4 – 6

Singing isn’t just for the birds. Get ready to sing like a…siamang!  Song and calls are important to many animals. We will meet the musical animals of the Zoo and learn songs about them.

Campers will visit the following areas each day:

  • Monday – No camp
  • Tuesday – No camp
  • Wednesday – Gorillas, Chimps, Rhinos, Giraffes, Sea Lions, and the Aquarium.
  • Thursday – Okapi, Duikers, Zebras, the Children’s Zoo, the Swap Shop, and the Bug House.
  • Friday – Elephants, Tapirs, Bongos, Capybaras, the Reptile House, Natural Encounters, and the Tropical Bird House.

Ages 7 – 9

Shake those tail feathers! We get our boogie on as we meet the animals that inspired the various dance moves from the bunny hop to the elephant walk. Every day includes a dance party and new animal dance moves.

Campers will visit the following areas each day:

  • Monday – No camp
  • Tuesday – No camp
  • Wednesday – Elephants, Tapirs, Bongos, Capybaras, the Reptile House, Natural Encounters, and the Tropical Bird House.
  • Thursday – Gorillas, Chimps, Rhinos, Giraffes, Sea Lions, and the Aquarium.
  • Friday – Okapi, Duikers, Zebras, the Children’s Zoo, the Swap Shop, and the Bug House.

Ages 10 – 14

Travel around the world and explore the celebrations and cultures that celebrate animals. Think of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, the serpent of the Maya civilization, or even Groundhog Day here in the United States.
