All zoo animals need enrichment to help encourage natural behaviors and promote exercise. Discover different types of enrichment and create some enrichment of your own.
This camp will include an experience feeding or observing an animal interacting with enrichment at least twice.

The Houston Zoo is under construction! Explore the Zoo through its architecture in this unique camp. We will look zoo design from historic exhibits, through modern zoos and explore the Houston Zoo’s master plan.

All Access Camp
*New this year!*

Has your camper dreamed of encountering the Houston Zoo animals and staff up-close and personal? In this immersive camp, your camper will visit a behind-the-scenes animal section every day. Campers will also get a tour of the Houston Zoo operations employee-only areas and visit the departments that make the Zoo run. Animal experiences will vary based on animal and staff availability, but could include visiting Hoofed Mammals, Reptiles, Ambassador Animals, Sea Lions, Aquarium and more. Operations areas may include animal nutrition, horticulture, theming workshop, recycling center and more. Not every encounter involves touching or feeding.

This camp includes daily behind-the-scenes experiences in both animal sections and operational (non-animal) areas each day.

*Camps offered over the week of July 4 (Week 5) will not have camp on Wednesday. Camp will be offered as two discounted sessions, each offering different experiences and activities. In order to register for the entire week of camp, please make sure both date ranges (the 2-3 and the 5-6) are added to your cart.

Every camp week will include touchable animal experiences, visits to several sections of the Zoo, giraffe feeding, and a carousel ride. Activities and games are tied to the theme for the week and will be different for each camp theme.
