Indian Star Tortoise

The eye-catching star pattern on the shells of these tortoises provides excellent camouflage in their native habitat.

  • Range: India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Found in a range of habitats, from the semideserts in the outskirts of the Thar area in Rajasthan and Gujarat to the savannahs and the more moist deciduous forests of southern and western Sri Lanka.
