Zoo Visit FAQ

Can I bring food and beverages to the Zoo?
Absolutely! All we ask is that you follow a few simple rules and that you be mindful of our animals and their home. Be sure to pick up all trash and pack out what you bring into the Zoo. You may NOT bring:
  • Glass bottles
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Plastic straws
Can I bring my dog or cat or other pet to the Zoo?
As much as we love all animals, we ask that our guests not bring their pets to the Zoo.

Can I have a birthday party at the Zoo?
Absolutely! Our Birthday Party information page will be the best resource for all your party questions.

Does the Zoo have strollers and wheelchairs available?
Yes.  Our strollers, wheelchairs and motorized scooters are available on a first come first served basis.

  • Double strollers : $11.00

Q: Where do I catch the Hermann Park Train?
A: The Hermann Park Train is not officially associated with the Houston Zoo, and the train does not run within zoo grounds. The train station is not far from the zoo entrance in Hermann Park.
