History of Zoo Friends
Accomplishments – Fund Raising & Special Events
Combined direct donations to Zoo Friends and proceeds from fund-raising project like Zoo Ball and Zoo Family Party have raised approximately $25,441,000 for the Houston Zoo through April 2011.
The members of Zoo Friends take great pride in knowing they have contributed to the growth of one of Houston’s most visited and enjoyed recreation areas! The areas that have received support from the Zoo Friends funding are summarized below.

Zoo Friends of Houston have a ball
Rain threatened, but ultimately stayed away, from the Houston Zoo Friday evening. The resulting weather was just muggy enough to fit the theme for Zoo Friends of Houston’s 22nd Zoo Ball: “A Way to Africa.”

Chaired by Cristina Buaas and Sheila Hulme, the event honored Anne and Charles Duncan and benefited the zoo’s upcoming African Forest exhibit, the first phase of which is slated to open in December. (Anne Duncan has worked as the African Forest Campaign chair.)
Clad in their finest safari chic, guests mingled with zoo animals — both the real things and people dressed like them — and partied the night away around the zoo’s reflection pool.
