Individual and Family Wild Winks Overnights

Come Spend the Night at the Zoo! 

Wild Winks is a program designed for groups with children age 7 to 12 years of age and their chaperones.  Wild Winks are perfect for adults, families, schools, scouts, home school, community groups, birthday parties and slumber parties. 
 

 

Doze with the Dinosaurs this Summer!

 
Summer overnights at the Houston Zoo are chock full of fun and adventure this summer!
 

There aren't any dinosaurs today, but there are animals at the Zoo that have things in common with these prehistoric creatures.

So pack up your sleeping bag and join us for an opportunity to experience the new Dinosaurs exhibit at night!  You will also have a flashlight tour of the zoo, participate in interactive activities, meet one of our animal ambassadors, enjoy a pizza dinner, continental breakfast, and admission to the Zoo on the second day of the program!

The Dinosaurs are invading this summer only– you don’t want to miss this!

 

Time: 6 pm to 10 am the next day
 
Cost: $45 per person

Capacity: Must have a minimum of 25 people to book a private event.  If you have a smaller group you will be combined with other smaller groups.  You must let us know if you are requesting a private event.  Otherwise we will add other groups to the date.  Capacity is limited to 60 participants.   
Please Note:  There will be 2-3 hours of walking in both the evening and in the morning tour.

Special Doze With the Dinosaurs dates just for Scouts!

These overnights are just the same as the Doze with the Dinosaurs.  They are just reserved for scout groups only.

Programs are held rain or shine, so please dress for the weather as much of the program will be conducted on Zoo grounds.

REGISTRATION
Use our Public programs registration form to sign up for this program.  Your registration form will be processed and you will be contacted for payment.  If you mail the registration form your payment must be included. Registration and payment must be received at least three weeks in advance of the program.  We do not offer group rates for the Wild Winks program. Registration form can be faxed to 713-533-6783 or emailed to group.reservations@houstonzoo.org
 
Cancellations
Patrons who provide a written notice of cancellation to the Group Sales Dept. (1513 N. MacGregor, Houston, TX 77030) on or before 6 weeks (42 days) prior to the program date will receive a full refund. No refund will be issued after this date. Program and date changes must be made at least 3 weeks (21 days) prior to the program date and are subject to availability.    The Houston Zoo reserves the right to cancel any program due to minimum enrollment, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued. Cancellations are official upon receipt of confirmation from the Houston Zoo. The Houston Zoo charges a $30 fee for all returned checks.    
 
 

Frequently-Asked Questions:


Where do we sleep?
Summer overnights will sleep in the air conditioned Brown Education Building.  Weather permitting, from September to May, groups will sleep in tents on Zoo grounds.  In the event of bad weather groups will sleep inside.

What if it rains? What if the weather is really hot or really cold?
Dress for the weather.  We do not cancel the program unless the weather is severe and safety is a concern. You will be spending a good deal of time out on Zoo grounds.
 

What do I bring for my overnight stay?
A sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, and change of clothing. You may also bring a small mat to sleep on if you wish. Please DO NOT bring inflatable air mattresses, cots as we have limited space.  A small inflatable is allowed. Please leave electronics at home.  

May I bring my camera?
Participants are encouraged to bring camers.  However, for consideration for the animals, flash photographs are only permitted during the morning portion of the Zoo tour.

May we bring our own food and drink?
We provide dinner, evening snack and breakfast for everyone.  If you have specific dietary needs you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. 
 
What if I have someone in my group that has special needs?
We make every effort to accommodate those with special needs, but please contact us prior to the program to let us know specifics.
