Meet the Elephants at the Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo's Asian elephant herd includes seven elephants: one adult male, three females, a calf, a baby and a newborn.   

These highly intelligent creatures are an endangered species. Scientists estimate that there are less than 50,000 wild Asian elephants; they live in India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. (By comparison, there are 600,000 wild African elephants.) Learn more about our elephants.
