Houston Zoo New Revised Free Day Schedule
Formerly held on Memorial Day, Labor Day and July 4, summer free days traditionally saw very large crowds, putting a strain on the Zoo staff, animals and surrounding areas including the Museum District and the Texas Medical Center.
To alleviate serious traffic and overcrowding concerns, the Zoo created a new free day schedule.
The new free day schedule now in effect will maintain five free admission days:

| The Day After Thanksgiving | Friday November 27, 2009 |
| New Year’s Day | Friday January 1, 2010 |
| Martin Luther King Jr. Day | Monday. January 18, 2010 |
| President’s Day | Monday February 15, 2010 |
