Photo Day Series at the Houston Zoo
Due to enthusiastic demand, The Houston Zoo has taken our WILDLY popular Photo Days and expanded them into a year-long series of 6 photo outings scheduled throughout 2010! Scroll down to see the schedule of Photo Days for 2010.
The next Photo Day will be Saturday,September 25

Photography enthusiasts - come out to the Houston Zoo on Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 a.m. and capture images of the Zoo’s animals and lush landscaping 2 hours before our normal opening time. Take advantage of the morning lighting and cooler weather and get memorable shots of some of the Zoo’s early risers as they start their day by getting fed, being bathed and enjoying enrichment.
Ticket holders will be treated to a continental breakfast, scheduled animal photo ops and a professional photography presentation. Guests are welcome to stay on Zoo grounds all day until our normally scheduled closing time.
WALK-UP REGISTRATION AVAILABLE AT 7:00AM ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT

Register now for any of our upcoming Photo Days!
Photo Day ticket holders will have access to the Zoo's public grounds and exhibits starting at 7:00 a.m., two hours before the zoo opens to the public. Attendees are invited to participate in scheduled activities or they can just roam the Zoo grounds at their leisure, taking photos of all that the Zoo has to offer, until our normally scheduled public closing time.
A continental breakfast and all-day access to the Zoo are included.
The schedule of events at each Photo Day is the same:
7:00 - 8:00 a.m. Gates Open, check-in/registration and continental breakfast
7:00 - 8:00 a.m. Free roam photo access to Zoo grounds & all outside exhibits
8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Scheduled animal activity photo op, or free roam
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Scheduled animal activity photo op, or free roam
8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Scheduled animal activity photo op, or free roam
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Scheduled animal activity photo op, or free roam
9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Photography presentation at BEC Auditorium
2 animal activity photo ops will be scheduled for each Photo Day and the activities will involve either a feeding, bathing, enrichment or other close interaction between our zookeepers and animals.
All Photo Day mornings will be capped off with a presentation by a local professional or amateur photographer who will display a series of their photographs and will entertain the audience with the stories behind their photos along with an opportunity for Q&A.
