On October 20 at 9:37 in the morning the Houston Zoo welcomed its newest arrival – a baby nyala. His name is Noah and he weighed eleven and a half pounds at birth. Noah was born in the exhibit as keepers and zebras Charlie and Image and giant eland Sadie observed.
Noah’s mother Alanis is the oldest nyala in a North American zoo. Noah is her sixth calf. Noah’s sister Ginger was born on October 19 last year.
