What sort of discounts does my membership include?
Members enjoy discounts on their gift shop purchases, the 4-D experience, and the Wildlife carousel.
4-D tickets for members -$4 per ticket
Wildlife Carousel – $2 per ticket. Each ticket is valid for one person for one ride.
Basic levels of memberships receive 10% off on their gift shop purchases. Supporting and Sustaining members receive 15% off and Conservator levels receive 20% off.
When can I use my membership to get into the zoo?
You may use your membership every day during normal zoo hours. The only day we are closed is Christmas day. The zoo may have different hours if it is being closed early due to special or private events. After hour events (such as Zoo Lights and Feast with the Beasts) are not covered by your membership, but you may receive a discount. Be sure to check the Calendar of Events for event information.
Do members have early admittance?
Yes! The Zoo is open one hour early at 8 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month for members only! Enjoy cooler weather and see animals just as they come outside for the day, a time of day when they are most active. (Please note that in the month of November Members Morning is held on the 2nd Saturday of the month.)

What is considered to be a dependent on a membership?
Under the membership you may bring any child that is between ages of 2-21 years old. Depending on what level you have depends on how many dependents you can bring.
What is a Single-Use Guest Pass?
A single-use guest pass is a one time use ticket that is valid for one ticket for one person. Once these passes are redeemed, they will no longer be valid. If passes are lost they will not be replaced. Please note that if you purchase a membership online you will not receive your single-use guest passes until your membership cards arrive in the mail.
How long is my membership valid?
Your membership is valid until the end of the month one year from the date of purchase. For example, if you purchase a membership on June 10, 2013, it will be valid until June 30, 2014.
Is my membership tax deductible?
Yes! If you have the Individual, Family, Family Plus, Grandparent or Supporting level membership, the fair market value of your benefits is not substantial and therefore the entire amount you paid is tax deductible.
If you have the Sustaining level membership, the fair market value of your benefits is $53, leaving a total of $197 that is tax deductible.
If you have a Conservator level membership, the fair market value of your benefits is $153, leaving a total of $347 that is tax deductible.
Questions about Membership Account Information
How can I update info on my membership account?
You may update your contact information online through your membership log-in, over the phone or on your next visit to the zoo. Please have your Membership # or other verifying information handy.
How can I add or change a name on my account?
You may only change additional names once to your membership account. Please note that there will be a $3.00 processing fee to change or add a name to the account. You will receive new membership cards that reflect the differences through the mail within 2 weeks.
Questions about Membership Cards
Why am I asked to show photo ID along with my membership card?
By requiring photo ID we are better able to protect the integrity your membership and offer more benefits to our participating members.
How long does it take to receive my membership cards?
Membership cards are mailed within 2 to 3 weeks of purchase of the membership.
Can I visit the zoo before I receive my cards?
If you purchase onsite at the zoo, you will be given a temporary pass that will gain you access to the zoo until you receive membership cards in the mail. You may also visit by printing out your e-confirmation from your online membership purchase and presenting it with your photo ID at the Member Entrance. If the membership is purchased over the phone, please bring a valid photo ID to the membership window to obtain a temporary pass. Please note that if the membership is mailed in, it may take up to 2 weeks for it to be processed. Please call ahead of time to verify that the membership has been activated. For immediate access to your membership please purchase online or onsite. Reciprocal facilities may not accept temporary passes; please call ahead to their organization to verify their policies.
Can I utilize my membership if I left my card at home?
Yes, please present your photo ID at the membership window to receive a one time courtesy lookup and a temporary pass. This temporary pass is good for the duration of your membership. The next time you visit the zoo without your membership card or temporary pass you will be charged a $3.00 fee for replacement cards and a temporary pass to gain access.
Can I loan my membership card to a friend, family member or caretaker?
No. Your membership card and associated privileges are not transferable to any other individual or family. You will be asked for a valid photo ID for the named members listed on your membership card at the time of your visit.
If you have the Supporting level, you have the Kid Keeper option. This enables one adult that is not listed on the account to take up to 6 children to the zoo without any of the named adults being present. This adult needs to present one of the Supporting level membership cards at the Member Entrance and declare themselves the Kid Keeper to gain admittance for just themselves and the children into the Zoo. For any additional adults that would like to visit with the Kid Keeper will need to purchase a ticket or use a single use guest pass.
What do I do if I lose my membership card?
Call the membership office at 713.533.6529 or go to the zoo’s membership window to report your missing card. There is a $3.00 fee for replacement cards. New cards will be mailed to you and are not available for you to pick up onsite.
My child wants to come to the Zoo without me. Can I give them my card?
No. One of the named adults on the account must be present in order for dependents to visit.
