The Zoo is open one hour early at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month for Members only! Enjoy cooler weather and see animals just as they come outside for the day, a time of day when they are most active.
You’ll also get a special Meet the Keeper Talk at 8:30 a.m. at the Komodo dragon exhibit- hear from one of our Zoo’s experts and gain professional insight about a select animal or area. Learn from the best in the field about what it really takes to care for the diverse animals that call the Zoo home!
Breakfast With the Animals: Chimpanzees

This is a very special experience exclusively for Zoo members. Go Bananas when you start your day at the Houston Zoo! Swing on over and help create a special party for our Chimpanzee family. You will also have the opportunity to watch the feeding habits and enrichment activities of our Chimpanzees and enjoy a hot breakfast buffet.

Zoobilee is an annual family party in April just for Houston Zoo members! It’s a celebration featuring a children’s DJ, meet the keeper talks, and fun features that have included a magician, a giant bouncy slide and jugglers. Children are invited to embark on an expedition within the zoo to meet some of our remarkable residents and get a special passport stamped from exotic lands.

Past Breakfast with the Animals has included events at lions, giraffes, flamingos, and orangutans. Keep an eye out in your e-mail box – the next Breakfast will be announced in the members-only e-mail newsletter. Attendance is limited and tickets sell out fast, so purchase them early!
