The Zoo is open one hour early at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month for Members only! Enjoy cooler weather and see animals just as they come outside for the day, a time of day when they are most active.
You’ll also get a special Meet the Keeper Talk at 8:30 a.m. at the giraffe exhibit- hear from one of our Zoo’s experts and gain professional insight about a select animal or area. Learn from the best in the field about what it really takes to care for the diverse animals that call the Zoo home!
This event is always FREE for Zoo members, and there’s no need to RSVP – just show up and enjoy!

Zoobilee is an annual family party in April just for Houston Zoo members! It’s a celebration featuring a children’s DJ, meet the keeper talks, and fun features that have included a magician, a giant bouncy slide and jugglers. Children are invited to embark on an expedition within the zoo to meet some of our remarkable residents and get a special passport stamped from exotic lands.

Several times a year the Houston Zoo hosts an exclusive Breakfast With the Animals just for members. Attendees enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet, see the animals first thing in the morning when they are most active, and hear from zoo keepers who care for these animals every day. Breakfast with the Animals features special animal training and enrichment activities for your eyes only!
Past Breakfast with the Animals has included events at lions, giraffes, flamingos, and orangutans. Keep an eye out in your e-mail box – the next Breakfast will be announced in the members-only e-mail newsletter. Attendance is limited and tickets sell out fast, so purchase them early!
