Grizzly bears are off exhibit this week, through April 20.

The Water Play Park is now open for the season! It is open daily when the ambient temperature is above 70 degrees.

Gorillas are coming back to the Zoo in 2015. Please pardon our mess in the African Forest as we prepare for their arrival.

Marvel Character Appearances

MARVEL characters Spider-Man and Iron Man are visiting the Houston Zoo on September 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ve seen them in comics and movies, but now YOU can meet these heroes in person!

Spider-Man and Iron Man will make appearances at the Zoo throughout the day, greeting guests and posing for photos. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the heroic moment!

This amazing event is included in your Zoo admission and FREE for Zoo Members.

Spotlight on Species: Rhinos

In honor of World Rhino Day, join us to learn about the five species of rhinos, make homemade rhino masks, and visit with our rhino mascot! There will also be items for sale such as magnets, bracelets, and necklaces. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Lowveld Rhino Trust, which is helping to educate schoolchildren in Zimbabwe about rhinos and other animals.

The event will be held at the rhino habitat in the African Forest from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All activities are included with your Zoo admission and FREE for Zoo Members.

Be a Rhino Hero: Donate a Wildlife Book!
Directly contribute to saving rhinos in the wild by bringing in a new or gently used book about wildlife to donate to our friends in the field who are protecting rhinos in Africa. These books will be used to educate local communities in Zimbabwe about their amazing wildlife. Each person that donates a book will receive a rhino conservation bracelet AND a Houston Zoo Conservation Hero pin!
