10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Event is in two areas: outside the Natural Encounters building (near Red Panda), and at the Wattled Curassow exhibit in the Fischer Bird Gardens.

A mini-parade made up of guests in honor of the cotton-top tamarin at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

sea lions closing early

Wednesday, April 26th, the Sea Lion Deck will close early at 5:00 p.m. for a private event.

UH Rings Blessing

9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

As the spring semester comes to an end, our friends at the University of Houston are preparing for their graduation ceremonies. Part of this celebration includes Shasta blessing the rings of those graduating this semester.

On Friday, April 28, all of the rings for the semester graduates will be placed in a large UH-themed box which will be in the cougar habitat all day. The carnivore team will host special Meet the Keeper Talks Presented by Phillips 66 and training demonstrations at the cougar habitat at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to celebrate this special day.

Dia del Nino

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Many nations throughout the world celebrate Día del Niño, or Children’s Day, to honor and celebrate children who represent the hopes and dreams of every community. Bring the kids to the Houston Zoo on Sunday, April 30 for a Latin American celebration of music, games, and activities…created especially for kids!

This special fiesta is included with your paid Zoo admission, and it is free for Zoo Members.

Great Ape SOS

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Great Ape Gallery (indoor viewing area for gorillas and chimpanzees)

Recycling your cell phone here at the zoo can help save chimpanzees and gorillas in the wild! Join us for our Great Apes Spotlight on Species to learn more about our gorillas and chimpanzees and how to help their counterparts in the wild.

Bring in up to three old phones (or handheld electronic devices such as ipods, palm pilots etc) from your junk drawer, and take home a small gift; for every item donated, you will receive a magnet painted by either our chimps or gorillas!

There will be activities for the kids to participate in, as well as a huge table filled with lots of goodies (including Easter items) for sale, painted by our chimps and gorillas. All funds raised from your purchases will be donated to the Goualougo Triangle Ape Project, which supports Western lowland gorillas and chimpanzees.

closing early for Zoo Ball

Saturday, April 22, the Houston Zoo will close early in preparation of Zoo Ball at 5:00 p.m., last entry at 4:00 p.m.

Elephant Open House

Keep it up Houston Zoo!! Love seeing these guys in any language :) people who are complaining are greedy - we get plenty of their presentations in English - we should branch out and learn more.

Thank you guys for being so inclusive <3 I personally don't know Spanish or need a translation but there are a lot of families who do or who would at least feel more comfortable knowing that there are options out there or understand better in their first language.
