Fondue for the Zoo! At the Melting Pot Houston

April 1 – 30, 2014

Being charitable is a whole lot easier when chocolate is involved! This April is Fondue for the Zoo month at The Melting Pot of Houston. Enjoy a four-course fondue dinner for only $35, and the Melting Pot of Houston will give $5 to The Houston Zoo’s Action for Apes campaign to help gorillas and chimps in the wild! Please mention Fondue for the Zoo menu when making reservation.

Member Morning: Rhinos

The Zoo will open one hour early at 8:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month for Members only. See animals just as they come outside for the day, a time of day when they are most active. You’ll also get a special Meet the Keeper Talk at 8:30 a.m. This event is always FREE for Zoo Members, and there’s no need to RSVP – just show up and enjoy!

Putting for Prairie Chickens

Saturday and Sunday, April 5 -6, join us for Putting for Prairie Chickens.

The Attwater’s Prairie Chicken is not a chicken! It’s a grouse – and it’s vanishing from the coastal prairies of Texas. Less than 100 of these birds are left in the wild. The Houston Zoo is helping; we manage the captive breeding program and have breeding facilities both behind the scenes at the Zoo and at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Come and try for a hole in one on our mini golf course, set up at the lawn across from Meerkats just for this event. Proceeds benefit fire ant prevention efforts at the Attwater’s Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge.
