Waste Management Earth Day

It’s a Party for the Planet and you’re invited!
Celebrate Mother Earth and learn what you can do to protect the planet at Waste Management Earth Day at the Houston Zoo!
We will have plenty of activities, crafts, music and more to make this Earth Day memorable! Activities this year include:
• Endangered Species Scavenger Hunt – follow the map to explore the Zoo in a whole new way! Learn about the endangered species that live at the Houston Zoo and how our daily choices can help increase their chance of survival in the wild.
• Mother Earth Maze – put on your environmentally-conscious thinking cap and solve earth-friendly questions to make your way through the twists and turns of the Mother Earth Maze!
• Re-usable Mural – Color the day away on our five foot tall coloring mural, and if you run out of room, just erase and start all over! We are eliminating wasted paper with this fun reusable art project.
• Pin the Tail on the Monkey – Do you know the differences between monkeys and apes? One big thing, apes don’t have tails! Have a hoot racing your friends to see who can pin the tail on the monkey in the correct spot as we celebrate Ape-ril along with Earth Day. Don’t forget to go visit the apes who call the Houston Zoo home.

As always, the animal Keepers here at the Zoo are ready to share their expert knowledge with you during Meet the Keeper Talks. Attend these special eco-themed chats celebrating Earth Day and learn how our animal friends are affected by the way we treat the planet. There are Talks all day, throughout the Zoo, so you can pick your favorites and check them out!
Be sure to visit our Naturally Wild Swap Shop during Earth Day weekend as well. The Swap Shop is a place to bring items you have found in nature and trade them for natural items in our collection.
