Meet The Keeper: Chris Bednarski

Chris Bednarski at the Houston ZooChris Bednarski, a Houston Zoo herpetology keeper, spends every day with turtles, frogs, toads, and snakes.

His favorite animal to work with is Blanco, our white alligator. Visit the reptile house to see Blanco, one of our most unique zoo animals.

His Career:
Before starting at the Houston Zoo about two years ago, Chris worked as a herpetology department supervisor at Baltimore's Maryland Zoo.

In his role here, Chris works with various animals from the reptile house, including cogwheel turtles, keeled box turtles, blackbreasted leaf turtles, yellow-headed temple turtles, Panamanian golden frogs, and Houston toads. You can often catch Chris caring for Blanco, our white alligator.

His day usually begins with husbandry duties of our Houston toad collection, followed by a walk through the reptile house to make sure his animals are happy and healthy. Chris often interacts with guests is very knowledgeable about all of our reptile house residents.
