Houston weather is hot, but the Houston Zoo is cool. Even in the heat you can head to the Zoo for a relaxing day filled with fun, education, and amazing animals.

Memorial Day Fun!

Join us on Memorial Day for a special scavenger hunt through all our cool air-conditioned locations with TXU Energy Presents Chill Out! Visit each of the scavenger hunt “cool zones” and get a free sno-cone! The scavenger hunt happens from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – make sure to redeem your sno cone by 4:00 p.m.

Cool as Ice

Our animals enjoy Chill Out-themed enrichment activities that keep them happy and cooled off. From ice-pops for our bears, to daily baths for our elephants, our animals will be enjoying Chill Out enrichment all week long.

Be sure to check the Daily Update on the Plan Your Day Kiosk when you arrive at the Zoo for a complete list of the day’s chilly happenings.

New This Summer

The Houston Zoo is staying open late on select dates so you can enjoy the cooler evening weather! Introducing “Cool Nights” Fridays this summer, June 28 – August 23, where the Zoo will be open until 8:30 p.m.  Bring your family and enjoy the animals, music, and kid-friendly activities too.  Regular Zoo admission applies.  Cool Nights is FREE for Zoo Members.
